Customer Review: Great Product but a bit of a Tight Squeeze
Summary: 5 Stars

First: I'm using this product with a MacBook Pro that was purchased right around the time that this is being written. Thus, it is unknown how this would work with a PC or an older Mac. Also, if you buy from Apple directly this runs you about 69, not 89.

"Squeezing" the side buttons to bring up Expose is a little tight, it takes some pressure and getting acquainted with. Otherwise, the product is great. Bought it several days ago: connects well and maintains signal, clicking is easy with right, left and scroll wheel clicking. You can scroll vertically and horizontally with the ball. Mouse works with one or two batteries, I would recommend buying some rechargeable ones to save money and the environment. Not sure about the products longevity but I can't see it failing unless I mistreat the thing.

Bottom line, is it worth the cost? I would say yes. No cord to mess with. No wireless usb plug-in thing to mess with. Those two things by themselves makes it worth it to me but also, the functionality with my Mac and the quality appears to be high. Good luck! :)

Customer Review: Surprisingly Good
Summary: 5 Stars

Thought the price a bit much, and didn't care for the apparent "Apple premium" evident in some Apple peripheral prices, so I got smart and asked for it as a gift :)

Wow! Well worth the relatively high sticker price. As other reviewers have pointed out, the mouse appears to have a unibody, one-click, design, but actually recognizes four assignable buttons (and very reliably) -- left, right, click on 360-degree navigation ball, and a squeeze (great for setting to trigger dashboard or expose). This sounds like a recipe for wrong-button clicks, but they got it down somehow.

Extremely good precision, and incredible battery life. Piece of cake to get a bluetooth match, though it sometimes takes about ten seconds from switch-on. Be advised that, like most optical mice, this one gets confused on a pure glass desktop. That can be cured by putting a piece of paper under it, though, or more traditionally, a mouse pad. Believe it or not, I often use the mouse while seated on the couch, as it works perfectly well if you slide it across cushion or arm upholstery.

Customer Review: This is a great mouse -- if you hate right clicking.

I love my ibook in the irrational way generally reserved for true loves and children. Though I've never understood it as well as my pc, it holds a special place in my heart next to my ipod, my tivo, and my mother. Therefore I am consistently trying to make it do things it doesn't really know how to do. In that same vein, I wanted to play World of Warcraft on my ibook. It's my only laptop and sometimes, I want to sit in an airport and play video games instead of checking my email or doing homework. Apple is suppose to be the "fun" side and though I know there's a reason its called "PC Gaming," I had high hopes for the mighty mouse to free up the sheer number of keys I had to push to do simple right-click moves in the World of Warcraft interface. Mighty Mouse claimed "Thanks to a smooth top shell with touch-sensitive technology beneath, Mighty Mouse allows you to right click without a right button." Well, okay, that sounds hot. And it works in every native apple app. It does not, however, work in World of Warcraft.

Customer Review: Beautiful look and feel, but falls short
Summary: 2 Stars

Pros: As all Mighty Mouse's I have used in the past - Laser tracking is spot on - no adjustment needed. Especially great for creative people who work hours in Illustrator and Photoshop. And of course, it is beautiful and very comfortable to have in hand hour after hour.

Cons: 1) Wireless MM is pretty heavy compared to it's wired relative, and even other wireless mice. The weight is hard to get used to, and will slide if operating on a tilted surface (such as a couch). 2) Scrolling bead is prone to collecting dirt, and therefore can die out quicker than most wheels. 3) Has a very sensitive build. It dropped on my carpet floor, and the device stopped working. Partly my fault, but realized this sensitive gadget can't withstand a little bumping here and there. Apple let me return it after the 30 days, and I ended up exchanging for the Logitech V470 Wireless Mouse.

Overall, if you like the ergonomics and operation of the Mighty Mouse and can deal with a cord - I'd stick with the wired version.

Customer Review: Looks great, functionally not up to the Apple standard
Summary: 2 Stars

Apple is known for making good looking products that just simply work. No fuss, no muss - no driver issues, no IRQ conflicts, no supplemental software required. Sadly, the Mighty Mouse (in wired and wireless varieties) fall far short of this standard.

The mouse itself is beautiful, and certainly lives up to Apple's aesthetic standard. In addition, the scroll ball is excellent, and I love the fact that I can use it with just one battery at a time (it is much lighter). Furthermore, it gets great battery life compared to the other wireless mice I've used.

Sadly, however, the right click does not work well. Many times it registers as a left click, and it can be extremely frustrating. No Apple product should work this poorly. Apple is too good a company to let products like this on the market. Also sad is the fact that no other company offers a good alternative that meets Apple's design aesthetics and functions well. It is frustrating to be the owner of an iMac, which is otherwise excellent.
