Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Apple Bluetooth Wireless Mighty MouseCustomer Review: Needs Improvement at this price Summary: 4 Stars
If you are any more impatient than myself then the bluetooth Mighty Mouse mighty not be for you. I am constantly closing my Macbook to sleep and every time I go to wake it up, MM in hand ready to get down to some hardcore Maction. I have to open Bluetooth and re-do everything I did to initially install it.
This it is still highly annoying and detracts greatly from an otherwise wonderful product.
Likes:
+pretty
+accurate once in use
+no dongle!
+roller ball is roller-tastic!
+multi-function use (side click/ball click/"right" click
+good battery life/power management
+truly does work on a wide variety of surfaces
Dislikes:
-Takes way to long to activate every time I want to start using it
-Right click is often not recognized or confused w/ left click due to Apple's ignorant, pride-driven lack of a real "right click" button!!
-Slightly heavy (although mouse does function using only one battery, and the lithium batteries are fairly light)
-Severe lack of a case or even a bag to store it in. (My much cheaper/older RF mouse even came with a felt carrying bag to prevent dirt/dust and damage.
-Side click takes way to much pressure to push. (And I am 6'3" 230 lb.) Two side buttons but still no right button!?
-Price
Overall:
If Seventy bucks won't set you back too much then buy it now. If you are a really impatient person and on a budget, go with something else or continue fingering your mac.
Customer Review: A Major Improvement . . . Summary: 5 Stars
This mouse is a vast improvement over Apple's one button wireless Mighty Mouse - mostly because you can both left and right click, and assign functions to the other buttons. To see how this works, test one out at an Apple store. While $70 puts this mouse on the pricier side of wireless mice, it does have Bluetooth, whereas many wireless mice require a wireless signal receiver in one of your USB ports (check to see if the other mice you are looking at require a USB port - they often hide this part in the container, so you don't see it until you open it up - which can mean yet another piece of equipment to keep up with and one less USB port)! Ultimately, I chose to go with the Apple mouse because I have confidence in Apple products and, like the other things I have purchased from them, I knew that whatever the best design features were, this mouse would have them. For simplicity, style and configurable buttons this is a nice mouse. There are other options out there about $15 dollars cheaper, but if you are the kind of person who likes to know you got a lot of value for your $, and if you love the useful surprises Apple builds into their products, this is a safe bet.
Don't forget to open System Preferences > Mouse & Keyboard to designate the right click function, 360 degree scrolling and which ever function you prefer for clicking on the scroll ball.
Customer Review: Frank Lloyd Wright of Mice - Avoid it Summary: 1 Stars
This mouse is the Frank Lloyd Wright of mice. Form over function. It looks cool. Its sleek. It doesn't work well.
The blue tooth constant looses connection and instantly recovers. Functionally it isn't too bad - visually expect to see the mouse dropped connection graphic on your screen a lot.
Its only a 3 button mouse. Left and right click are available via software and its smart enough to determine which side of the mouse you're clicking on.
The center button is horrible. Its the tiny mouse ball on top. Lot of reviews say it gets filled with crud and you cannot clean it out. The 4th button visually looks cool on the sides - however, they are the same button. They are very awkward to use.
I am much happier with my Logitech MX-10 that I brought over from my PC days. Logitech makes a Mac driver for that mouse that gives you a world of config options. It works wonderful. Its ergonomic where as this apple mouse may look sexy - but it under performs in about every way possible. Avoid it like the plague.
I thought - well perhaps I can make it a single click mouse and give it to my 3 year old for her games. She struggles with it as well.
Hopefully Apple with come out with an external touchpad for iMac's like the MacBook Pro has.
Customer Review: Not As Bad As Some Say Summary: 4 Stars
After reading other reviews posted here I was prepared to have to send the Mighty Mouse back. But I've been using it for about a month and have had no problems whatsoever. I know that some people said that the scroll button stops working after a few months, but I think that has to do with the way it is used, i.e. with dirty fingers. It seems to me that if you keep it clean and use it with clean hands, you shouldn't have a problem with it not scrolling. I will post the problem here if it does happen to me, but so far there has been no hint of trouble. The only difficulty I've had is using the right-click "button." As others have reported, it is tricky and takes getting used to. But it does work! My mouse came with both left and right buttons programmed the same--for left-clicking. So I had to use the included software to reset the right-click function (very easy to do). I use the default setting for the side buttons (that you squeeze), which activates Expose. I find it easy to switch programs with this technique. It is a little pricey compared to other wireless Bluetooth mice, but for me it was worth it. I recently switched from a PC user to a Mac user because I discovered that things Apple really work better. The Mighty Mouse is no exception (once you get the hang of right-clicking with it).
Customer Review: Apple Fan Disappointed . I hate Apple meeses to pieces! Summary: 1 Stars
I've owned an Apple mouse since there was one.
This is the third Mighty Mouse that quit rollerballing. I bought the cordless after the corded quit, and then another.
I give up. I never thought I'd ever give Apple a bad review.
The Apple 11+, the 11e so on, first mouse came with a bottom ball mouse that got clogged every now and then and all you did was give the retaining ring a twist, pop out the ball and with a little alcohol you were back in business. white and clear opticals good job.
If you're reading this at Apple, you owe me. I have preached the gospel of apple through 6 machines (since about 76 or 78 i think.) I bought the first one on my Apple card. I have a "I can make it simple to switch" tee shirt, an aftermarket tee of a an Apple Pak Man chasing a scared Windows logo. And an Einstein "think different" poster. Apple Rainbow window decals, hell I named my company Rainbow after it.
Go back to your roots gentlemen. Figure a way to make the little ball work and send me my prototype. Then we can be friends again.
Now that I've said that I'll reach over to my 9.99 Targus mouse and click Preview/Send.
