Customer Review: Be careful!
Summary: 1 Stars

I landed up with a lemon from Apple.

No doubt this Aluminum Keyboard is as well designed as Apple makes them, but the one I bought has a problem. I discovered it much too late to do anything about it.

For maintenance tasks (which are relatively few on any Apple Mac), one requires pre-boot keys (control, command, option) to be active. In my particular keyboard, this does not happen. Which means, that I can't do a Safe Boot, Boot Disk Choose or Reset PRAM with this keyboard. This is caused probably by a circuit error which causes the keyboard NOT to be recognized until after full boot-up. Apparently this is a widespread problem with a certain series of Apple Aluminum Keyboards.

Just hope that your Keyboard is not part of the faulty series like mine is.

UPDATE: 2011

As I have now discovered with my 2nd Alu Keyboard, the problem is not with the keyboard, but with its compatibility with the 2006 iMac. Its the iMac that has the problem. Plenty of complaints online regarding this. And Apple has chosen not to fix it.

Customer Review: A perfect addition!

First off, I have a Macbook. I use it for everything from photo editing, graphic design to word processing. Well, I accidentally spilled some liquid on it and despite my best efforts, several of the keys became useless. I plan on having the keyboard replaced, but I can't afford $250+ to have it fixed just yet. So I purchased this keyboard as a cheaper and temporary solution to my problems and let me tell you, it hasn't disappointed me. Just plug it in and it's ready to go. The additional USB ports are a much welcome addition as well. My Macbook only has two USB ports, so it's nice to have some extras, just in case. The keyboard is very quiet for typing, except for the space bar. If I press it on both sides, it isn't AS loud, but that just slows down my typing. Not really a big deal, but I thought it worth mentioning. It's very thin (as the images showed) and lightweight. It should prove easy enough to pack up and take with me as well.

So all in all, definitely worth the purchase. If you need or want a new external keyboard, I'd definitely give this one a try.

Customer Review: BEST. KEYBOARD. EVER.
Summary: 5 Stars

I've been a PC user my entire life. Never thought much about which type of keyboard I ever used. I work a tech job now and was required to use the iMac which had this exact keyboard with it. At first I was dubious about this keyboard. It didn't look all that pretty and I thought I'd miss the tactic nature of my home keyboard. My job requires I type all day every day at a break neck pace. I was surprised at how much I LOVE THIS KEYBOARD. My fingers don't press buttons so much as they roll over them. I probably type faster than ever using this keyboard. I also love how thin it is. Easy to to store up under the iMac to provide desk space back. Besides being attached to this keyboard at work I had to get one for home. I'm also a writer in my space time and I wouldn't do without this keyboard. I know they have a smaller version but I prefer this one. I like having the number pad and forward delete. Though I don't usually nerd out to tech I would simply say that this is the perfect keyboard and if you're considering it all, pull the trigger and get it immediately.

Customer Review: Cool to look at, easy to use and great value...
Summary: 5 Stars

I got this keyboard for use with my Apple MacBook Pro MC374LL/A 13.3-Inch Laptop and an external monitor. In all respects, this is an excellent keyboard, since the keys are well laid out and it is easy to get the hang of using it in a short period of time. Yes, it is also "cool" to look at, but also very functional. What is also nice is that it includes two USB ports and thereby functions as a USB hub.

The only very minor issue I have with this keyboard, as with any Apple keyboard, is that there is no "Insert" key. This is not an issue when you use it with Mac OS/X, but it does pose an minor pique for those using their Macs with Windows (either when running Windows installed on the Mac or when running a Windows Remote Desktop session). I found out that the insert key is either the "Fn" key or "Fn" + "return" keys, depending on the Windows application you are using.

Overall, I'm glad I purchased this keyboard.

Customer Review: Nearly perfect keyboard

To my tastes, a numpad-free keyboard is preferable, since this allows the alphabetical part of the keyboard to be centered in front of you. (This is especially nice if you're right-handed; otherwise, the mouse gets in the way.) Apple's latest wireless keyboard has this feature (or lack of feature?).

Having said that, this is a simple, elegant keyboard with a good tactile feel. Some people will miss the thick, old-fashioned keys of the previous-generation "Pro" keyboard. But I enjoy the consistency of a keyboard that feels the same as my MacBook, since I alternate between the two frequently. This is a truly slim, light keyboard that you can take with you anywhere. I use it in conjunction with an mStand and wireless Mighty Mouse to convert my laptop into a comfortable desktop machine without the need for an external display.
