Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Antennas Direct DB8 Multidirectional HDTV AntennaCustomer Review: Great Antenna Summary: 5 StarsI have a digital TV and receive my signal through the air. I'm approx 20 miles from the transmitters and my antenna is installed in the attic. Those two factors work against getting good reception from an antenna in the attic. (versus on the roof) I changed out my old antenna with the DB8 and now what used to be decent reception is now great! I'm sure if I were to put this antenna on the roof I would have stronger signals but no need.
Customer Review: Great HDTV Antenna Summary: 5 StarsThis antenna does as advertised. I can now receive an uncompressed HD signal from over 45 miles away from NYC.
Customer Review: Look to Channel Master Antennas First Better Reception Summary: 2 StarsI was well pleased initially with this antenna as we live about 70 miles from Minneapolis. All of the channels came in EXCEPT channel 9 (KMSP). We needed 9 to get th FOX station, so I had out the local TV repair shop. The first and only thing he did was to install a Channel Master brand antenna, and instantly channel 9 came in. We also improved our channel 11 (NBC) signal strength, to where it no longer breaks up the signal. All of this, and the Channel Master antenna was only $100.
Customer Review: Works very well Summary: 5 StarsThe instructions were not clear, so I relied on the picture on the box when I assembled the antenna. I put it in the attic. I was so disappointed because the old rabbit ears antenna that I have was better than this [...]antenna. I played with it for 2 weeks putting it in different corners of the attic and trying different positions. I just could not make it get more channels except for the ones that are line-of-sight. Then I looked at the picture on the box again and I noticed that I had put the reflectors backwards. I fixed it, and what a difference. I live in South San Francisco about 7.5 miles from Sutro Tower in San Francisco, but there are mountains and hills blocking the signal. According to [...] the signal from Sutro Tower to my antenna is 2-edge. But, after fixing the antenna I could get all the channels from the tower except for 1 vhf channel. I just had to find the right place in my attic to put it and also tilt it upward to get all the channels. I am very happy with it and will be discontinuing my Comcast cable service.
Update Aug 14, 2009: The VHF channel is coming in clear. Sutro Tower is in the process of replacing the antennas until October. During this time, they are using the temporary antenna. 2 channels are weak and sometimes they don't show anything at all. I'm sure after the job is done, they would be fine.
Customer Review: DB8 HD antenna Summary: 4 StarsExcellent antenna. Was easy to assemble.Received it faster then expected and I get FM reception too since I live way out in the sticks. My only dissapointment is I no longer get my basic stations like cbs, nbc, fox5 and abc. I used to get my stations from NYC before HD Digital but since Digital signals work differently, they travel in a straight line I no longer get the NYC stations since I have a mountain in the way. But I do get excellent reception on 5 stations. Unfortunately they are all religous stations so I may have to get cable or satelite dish reception.
