Customer Review: Great Antenna with Excellent Reception
Summary: 5 Stars

According to one of the antenna web sites, I needed a very large antenna with a pre-amp to pull in signals which are being broadcast about 27 miles from where I live. I reviewed both this model and the DB2 model but decided to go with this model because of the larger dB gain, distance from the broadcasting location, and because I wanted to mount the antenna in my attic. I also ordered the 75 Cm J mount with the antenna to simplify the installation but decided not to purchase a pre-amp based on the reviews here.

When the antenna and mast arrived, I was able to install and align it in about an hour and half. I was also pleasantly surprised that I could receive the channels without pre-amplification. I would make sure you use a compass to align the face of the antenna toward the most distant broadcasting towers to optimize the reception of those signals; however, because the antenna is multi-directional I was able to pick up signals broadcasted behind the face of the antenna. You can get the compass bearing and distance from the antenna web sites. Additionally, the higher you can mount the antenna the better.

Customer Review: Not that bad
Summary: 3 Stars

Our home is located down in a valley where it is impossible to get any local stations in - period - so please bare that in mind as you read our review. Usually, homes around us have either digital cable or satellite service. We have found the multi directional HDTV antenna does pick up stations clearly for the most part. However, for reasons we can't figure out at this time the signals come and go every so often - even on cloudless days. But, you get what you pay for. We are happy to be free of the cable bill of $65 a month for very basic cable or the ridiculous service we had with a horrible satellite company who robbed us blind with poor quality service. Thankfully, we have netflix when the antenna can't pick up the stations. We would, however, recommend purchase of this mutli directional HDTV antenna. We've tried others in the past and have gotten no signal whatsoever - so this is a great improvement. We would estimate a clear signal/sharp picture 90% of the time. I'm sure in time we'll figure out how to keep the sharp picture constant - save during bad storms when signals are expected to be lost.

Customer Review: Beware!!!

AntennasDirect is really pushing their new series Antenna before crunch time ends before change over..
Beware, I order the $129.00 long range antenna.Great shippping time..and Tracking info...
The problem is I received someone's problem. They Box had been open prior, just retaped. Missing screws and the flimsy contact board in connection box was broken at bolt head, not allowing for one half to transmit. It was obvious that the antenna had been put together and taken apart with bent sections and missing hardware. I decided to put it together, due to impatience of wanting to see what it could pull in.After hunting thru the garage for pieces and parts to put it together,I was able to get a few channels from one side..I then sent an email asking to purchase the board or a whole new Black box for connection. It has been almost four days and 7 emails, and still no response.Three calls have been made and they transfer you and then disconnect you..So beware, purchase at own risk, if you need answers or parts, they will not respond. Your best bet is ship it right back... Good Luck!

Customer Review: Fabulous reception and it's still inside the house!
Summary: 5 Stars

I spent a long time searching for a quality HDTV antenna and the Antennas Direct DB4 performs perfectly...and I haven't even put it on my roof yet. It's been too windy to get up on the roof so it's just plugged in and lying on the floor and working wonderfully. I live 53 miles from the closest network TV station and I am now getting crystal clear reception on over 20 different channels. Like many other reviewers, I strongly suggest visiting www.antennaweb.org, www.antennapoint.com and [...] to see where your local HDTV stations/towers are located. Finding the right antenna with the correct range and gain levels are critical for receiving the correct amount of incoming signal (too much can be as problematic as too little). If the DB4 doesn't meet your needs exactly, I encourage you to go check out the Antennas Direct website to see the capabilities of the DB2 and/or DB8 (plus many more other antennas). Their site is very helpful and informative. Also check out [...] and you'll see that Antennas Direct makes a lot of quality/highly rated hdtv antennas.

Customer Review: Works well for me
Summary: 5 Stars

I purchased the DB4 to replace a small, amplified uhf/vhf antenna, after proving that even a small antenna was capable of picking up DTV stations in my area (suburbs of Atlanta, GA). The antenna is mounted in my attic, as I needed as much elevation as I could get (I live in a low-lying area of my neighborhood). I used antennaweb.org's chooser service to calculate the proper heading for my antenna (given the source direction/distance to my local stations), and aimed it using a simple compass. Just to note, the loss of signal from attic-mounting seems negligible as I am picking up even more stations than the previous antenna--about 15-20 more for a total of 50 digital channels. Also, I am not even using a pre-amp, as I read that Antennas Direct recommends you try the antennas as-is first. I am, however, using an amplified splitter to feed at least 2 TV's in my house (this is just a standard CATV splitter purchased many, many years ago). So far I am quite happy with the reception and availability of channels in my area as provided by this antenna.
