Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Antennas Direct DB4 Multi-Directional HDTV Antenna

Customer Review: Good
Summary: 4 Stars

I live in a valley area that the reception of TV not too good.
Tried different TV antenna.
Base on the price, the best one is the hand made wired hanger antenna.
The reception is pretty good when the weather condition is OK.

Then I used Philips MANT940, it's quite good, still some problems when the weather is bad.

Finally I bought that DB4 HDTV antenna because I heard the reviews is good.

After I hooked up, I found it's the best antenna I have, however, it still not good enough to receive the HDTV signals when the weather is bad.

I guess it's the problem of the area I live, I mentioned it before I live in a valley area that the signal is weak.

In conclusion, Antennas Direct DB4 Multi-Directional HDTV Antenna has a better reception than Philips MANT940, about 10-20%
But Philips MANT940 has a smaller size, and easy to move and turn around.

Customer Review: Great Antenna
Summary: 5 Stars

Like many other reviewers, I did HOURS of research before settling on this antenna. All of my local stations are UHF with the exception of 1 that lies in the VHF band.

With my old style RCA outside antenna, reception was come and go on all stations.

The DB4 was very easy assembly, within literally 5 minuets it was ready to be mounted. Once I got it mounted and aimed properly (aiming is VERY important), I went inside to see what kind of reception I would get, expecting to not get the VHF channel in very good.

All of my channels increased on signal strength by about 10-15%. I was able to get in 1 more channel then I was expecting, plus my VHF channel came in at the same % as before, but seems much more stable.

I really like the feel of the antenna. It is light but feels strong. It feels like it will hold up through bad windstorms. I am pleased with this purchase

Customer Review: Excellent Reception
Summary: 5 Stars

This antenna does an excellent job of pulling in signals, especially given my circumstances. I am using it in a cinder block and stone residence hall to pull in local HD channels since our campus cable doesn't carry them. I am about 15 miles from the transmitters and I can pull in 3 of the 5 local stations. One of the stations that I can't get it on VHF channel 3, which this antenna is not designed to pick up.
More impressive is that the antenna picks up both HD and analog stations from about 50 miles away (much better line of sight).
I have this antenna mounted in my window, as high as I can put it. I am sure that it would be much better if I could mount it outside but that is not allowed.
The antenna is not amplified. I think that would help me pull in a few more stations and an amplifier will be my next purchase. Another thing to note: this antenna does not come with a mount or cable.

Customer Review: Not a miracle as marketed
Summary: 3 Stars

I guess we are all somewhat effected by good marketing, having a prior amplified antenna and avg reception, I live at 9,000ft and lots of trees but a reasonable shot towards the broadcast towers some 15+ miles away, I rather expected to pick up all channels when installed off the upper deck. While the existing good reception channels are a little better, the marginal ones now do not show up. I would not classify this as very omi-directional, it still requires movement for some stations.

Guess I had too high of hope with something larger and advertised as the ulimate. I have not called the manufacture as can guess the routine that I will here...place higher, get different cable, more amp, etc....I will just live with loss of some channels or put the more compact (Phillips bought at Walmart) back up.

Not necessarily unhappy just dissappointed in what I thought this product could do.

Customer Review: Works in basement
Summary: 5 Stars

I know this is an outside or attic antenna, but I am using it in the basement. We live 25 miles from the TV antennas. I am very pleased with reception that I am receiving in the basement going through ceiling tile, plywood floor, carpet, 3 drywall walls/ceiling, and roofing material. With amplified rabbit ears we have never had watchable analog reception in the basement. I now have 9 stations in digital quality (ABC, NBCx2, PBSx4, local, and FOX. The CBS affiliate does not show up unless I maneuver the antenna just for that station. There are two other digital stations that are not network affiliated that do not show up in the basement, but did show up when on the first floor. I am using the Zenith 901 digital converter. From a few test that I did, I am certain that if I would place the antenna outside or in the attic, I would get every available station with very good strength within 40 miles.
