I purchased this fan to cool mostly my 4 sticks of ram. On my motherboard there is no spacing between the 4 DIMM slots and when I installed 2 new sticks a few weeks ago I started to experience lock-ups due to my ram over-heating. Ram coolers were not an option due to my video card being too close to the DIMM slots. I found this and was glad.
Upon trying to install, I realized that the goose neck leaves much to be desired. It doesn't really hold the bend you want to put it in. It needs to be stronger.
On the other hand, it does provide great air flow and its quiet. It offers 3 fan speed settings and its not really audible unless on the 'high' position. Also due to its great air flow and larger size fan than I expected, this aids in cooling my north bridge passive heat pipe cooler as well. My PC is now stable with all 4 DIMMs filled, meaning this fan did exactly what I wanted it to. Wish you could shut off the blue LED lights though... (I have red case lighting)
Customer Review: Problems with the pivoting fan and articulation arm Summary: 2 Stars
I did not find the arm to be of sufficient strength to allow the fan to be placed where I wanted it to be placed. When a motherboard is placed vertically (as probably 99% of 'enthusiast' PCs are built) it'd seem natural to either secure this type of fan to a motherboard standoff or to one of your slots. Unfortunately, this means the fan's arm is fighting gravity when you're trying to place it...and the arm is just plain not strong enough to do this.
Also, maybe this was just my fan, but even though the fan itself can pivot in the circular structure, mine kept popping loose constantly.
Now, if you secure your fan to the bottom of your case as shown in some pictures here this might be the product for you. But...don't count too much on the arm being strong enough to allow the fan to be optimally placed if you use a motherboard standoff or a slot screw.
Customer Review: Great job Antec Summary: 4 Stars
The good: This is not a perfect product but it strikes a nice balance between cost and quality. Quiet and efficient fan with built-in speed control that you can swivel around in place and position to hit in just the right area. Works in a surprisingly tight space, in my case it is cooling my RAM and northbridge in a HTPC rig with a 4830 for gaming . Screwed this thing onto a mobo screw, turned it to lowest speed and heat problem solved. LED makes a nice spotlight for maintenance in my case. This is a LOT nicer than my usual two sided tale a fan in place solution.
The others: I wouldn't recommend it for a case that is getting moved around a lot as motherboard screws aren't designed to support a fan at the end of a 6 inch arm. I would like the fan to be more securely mounted in the swivel head but once in place this isn't a factor.
Customer Review: Cool what your case fans cannot Summary: 5 Stars
I have this thing pointed at my Northbrige Heatsink whose temperature, before this component was added, used to be about 57 degrees Celcius (as high as 60 degrees C on a hot day. Now it hovers between 49 and 52 degrees.
Before this upgrade i had a small deskfan pointed at an open case just to bring the temps down; had also tried high speed thermaltake fans in my case but i found the temperature to be still too high for my tastes.
Thank you antec for producing such a wonderful product!!!
I higly recommend this upgrade if u have an open testbed and don't want to use a deskfan, or if u have a hotspot in your computer that needs additional cooling!

Customer Review: Great idea, but weak arm and poor fan pivot design. Summary: 1 Stars
A simple idea for a simple need. But poor design or manufacturing results in a fan assembly that doesn't stay in it's pivot mount or it's position. And the adjustable arm is so weak it bends out of position with it's own weight when using in a tower where the arm is horizontal. I won't even get into the fan itself as I can't use this fan with it bending out of place any time the PC is moved or even the fact it's never in the place I want to begin with since it won't hold it's shape under it's own weight. Now I have to see if I can return it and if it's worth my time. I should have listened to the other guy that said the same thing.
