Customer Review: Quit working after 6 months

I used this enclosure to house a Western Digital hard drive that I used for backups. After the installation and first backup, I only powered the unit up for backup operations (about 3 three times in 6 months). Yesterday the unit powered up okay, but my PC could not 'see' the drive and it caused the PC to freeze. By placing the hard drive in my PC, I determined that the drive was okay and the trouble must be the electronics in the enclosure.Customer Review: if it wasn't for the screws, would be a 5 star

This is the second Antec enclosure I purchased and is a overall a good product. The only problem is that the 4 screws for mounting the HDD to the PCB are too long and do not secure the HDD properly. Am going to have to find some washers at the local hardware store.

I am using a 640 GB Western Digital WD6400AAKS WD Caviar SE16 SATA Internal Hard Drive with the enclosure and have had no problems thus far. Initially, I had a lot of data to transfer to the hard drive so I connected the drive to the motherboard for that transfer because the USB transfer would take much much longer. I only power up the external drive when needed because it is basically being used for backup. No problems so far.Customer Review: Very durable enclosure.

The first impression of this enclosure is that is it really durable. The case is so hard that can withstand anything. However, putting the hard drive in and plugging all the things in could get you tired. The AC adapter is pretty big to me. If you leave it on for too long, it does get a bit warm, but not hot. The USB cable is long enough for it to connect to the back of my computer and up to my desk. Overall it is a great product.Customer Review: Great little enclosure

Not much to say: It's another quality Antec device, quiet even when the drive is being accessed, stable, indicator light is bright but not over the top and it looks good enough to leave it out where it can be seen. My only word of caution for others is if you are looking for a quick-swap enclosure this is not the one for you. It's not difficult but I can certainly see getting a bit annoyed if I had to install/swap drives often.
