Customer Review: Best USB external drive I have

I own three different brands of USB external drives. Of them, this is the best. I took a 500GB SATA drive, already formatted with four NTFS partitions, easily plugged it in, and XP saw the drive and all the partitions correctly at once (the other externals required the drive to be reformatted before they'd use it). When I told XP to remove the drive, it unmounted all the partitions and spun the drive down (the others typically refuse to unmount, requiring a reboot to release them). Downsides: the power and USB cable are both short. It's noisier than others because the way the drive is mounted. The drive is not shock mounted, so you have to treat it tenderly. I was looking for the best enclosure to match my WD 1TB Drive (WD10EADS), after a lot of research I found that Antec made this enclosure, I sure trust them for their excellent computer cases, and I was not disappointed, installs in a snap, comes with simple instructions, I had my 1TB drive up and running in no time! the light is not so bright, it runs very cool (depending on what drive you choose to put in), that is why I chose the Western Digital Caviar Green, make sure to get the model WD10EADS, as this is an enhanced green drive that perfectly matches this enclosure.
I recommend it to every one, look no more, this is by far the best USB2 enclosure out there!
Customer Review: Fanless vertical with big wall wart

These are very generic devices. We're talking a fanless block of aluminum. So the differentiators are the surrounding devices. Here's a quick summary:
1. Really big, ugly, wall wart plug. They must have had a reason. Maybe they got a million for free? Really, this is dumb and reason enough to look at alternatives.
2. Looks nice. Vertical orientation for best cooling.
3. Comes with USB cable. The cradle has an "LED plug", maybe for a status light, but none was included. There's no status light at all.
4. Screws work, super easy to assemble.
Would be 4 stars but for the wall plug, 5 stars if it had a status light.

This works great so far. I just backed up my itunes through an old USB 1.0 port. It's been working for over 14 hours and is barely warm to the touch. I was worried to buy an enclosure without a fan. But the aluminum worked really well I guess. I had a fan blowing into the room near the encasement overnight so that could effect it, but extended use works well. I was very glad to get the cables with this enclosure. A lot of enclosures do not have wires with it. I enclosed my Hitachi 1 TB 16MB 7200RPM SATA Bulk/OEM Hard Drive 0A38016.Customer Review: Great product with a few shortcomings

The enclosure looks amazing and the installation was very quick and easy. The enclosed CD is only for Windows 98 computers (for anyone who still has one???) Since it is a fanless enclosure, it does get quite warm to the touch, but nothing too drastic. I was moving hundreds of GBs of files from my old external to the other, basically a few hours of continuous running, and there were no problems with the hard drive. Also, the power cord is a lot shorter than I would like. It hasn't caused any problems yet, but you may want to look into getting a longer power supply/cord.
