Customer Review: Great USB cable!

The debut of Amazon Essentials could not have been better timed for me. I have three portable hard drives (the kind that are powered solely through usb cables) and all of my existing cables were missing. Somehow over the summer they got thrown away or misplaced, so getting to my files on these portable hard drives was impossible. Even more frustrating was the fact that on my MacBook Pro from 2007, there's only one powered hi-speed USB port. The other one isn't hi-speed. So I had a USB hub that I couldn't use either.
Anyway, along comes Amazon Essentials with these amazingly cheap USB cables. I was cautious about buying USB cables from any place else because I could have just gotten normal USB cables, not ones that I could use to power my external portable hard drives and my USB Hub.
As soon as I saw these from Amazon though, my problems were solved. They're 6 feet/1.8m long, which is long enough to suffice for almost any application. The cords have gold-plated connectors - I'm not sure if that makes them USB cords from the high heavens, but it sure does make them look a lot nicer than the other ones I have lying about. And these cords are dirt cheap - Less than $3.75 for 6 feet... try getting something like that at a normal electronics store.
To close off my review, I'd like to say how happy I am with my purchase, and that I'll definitely be buying my future USB cables through Amazon Essentials!

This cable has all five star reviews (as of the time I am writing this review) because it is well made, has gold plated tips, appears durable, and most important works perfectly. I use this to charge my Slacker G2 portable player via a USB port on my PC.
Note: My BlackBerry Tour has a "micro USB" port rather than a "mini USB" port like my Slacker G2, so I need to use a different cable to connect it to my PC. I mention this because as another review has noted, this cable does not work on all gadgets that have a "small" USB port. Therefore be sure of what kind of port you are connecting to before you order this.
Update March 31, 2010: If you don't need a 6ft cable and can get by with just 1ft, consider the USB 2.O Shorty cable, which is sold on Amazon through Cyberguys or you can order directly from them. It works great (see my review) where a shorter length will do.

Very high quality, perfect length and definitely the right price. The gold plating is nice, the cables are flexible but still well shielded and the design and placement of the logo is a nice touch. It's not over the top or in-your-face, but still big enough to showcase the Amazon brand/quality and differentiate it from no-name junk that most OEMs ship with their USB accessories.
This is the perfect cable for connecting your digital cameras, card readers, USB hubs, etc. and I doubt that one could find better for the money. If you're looking for a longer cable to replace the factory one for your USB accessories using the mini-b connection, give these a shot.
Highly recommended. Would definitely purchase these again in the future if I needed another, even at twice the price. Great product.
Customer Review: Perfect Wireless Broadbend USB Modum extender.

I resently signed up for Verizon, Wireless, USB Broadbend service that uses a USB port plug-in Modum. I have a desk top Computer that sets back in the corner of my large cumputer desk. I received signals in the 2-3 band strength, in my rural setting. I thought that if I extended the USB port to be above the computer desk, I may be able to receive a stronger signal. This 1M (3.3') cable did the job. I attached the end of the cable to my desk's overhead light. I now receive 4 - bar strength and almost double the internet preformace. Well worth the few dollars this cable cost. I bought 2 of these Cables, so that, I could install one on my Wife's Computer to gain the same improvements and allow easy changing of the
Modum between Computers.

This cable is at least as well made as any other USB cable I have. The large Amazon logo is actually a really nice way to both see and feel instantly the direction the cable should be inserted into the computer. The logo faces down/away from you, which is also nice since you don't have a brand in your face while the product is in use.
Perhaps I should have bought one a bit shorter, I'm pretty sure they make a shorter version, and the length is a bit awkward, but that's my problem. The plain cardboard box is much easier to open and has to be more environmental, although you'd think they could use a smaller box.
All in all surprisingly thoughtful for something as simple as a USB cable.
