Even if the Kindle device, itself, isn't very durable and has some bugs to iron out, their service is great. I lost my power adapter, ordered one on line, and it was here in two days. Two days. I didn't even pay for faster delivery. Oh, the adapter is fine, does what it's supposed to do, and there's nothing to say about it. I turned on my Kindle and the battery was dead! Oh no, I really need it for a book I was required to read. Plugged it in to the adapter and nothing happened. Either it's the Kindle or the power plug. I called the help number for Kindle on the Amazon website and the service rep. immediately knew that it was the power plug and had one fed ex'ed to me the very next day. I have bought my Kindle 2 in March 2009 and months later, i found the cover of the charging cable with cracks and peeling off one area after another that at the moment I have an "almost naked" kindle charger. I called Kindle support and was advised to buy a new charging cable. I love using my Kindle that I am willing to but a new cable but I just can't understand why the insulating cover got spoilt this way when i was very careful with it and Amazon won't replace it even though it's still within the warranty period. :( And to add more to my disappointment, I found out from other reviews that some people who complained about the charger and cable got theirs replaced while I was advised to buy a new one.
