Customer Review: Nice docking station/speakers
Summary: 5 Stars

This has got to be the best docking station/audio system you can buy for the ipod. I use it for my recently purchased Ipod Touch. I previously owned another Altec Lansing docking station/speaker system for my Sandisk Sansa. I always wanted a docking station/audio system that had a remote control and a built in fm radio with the antenna. With my previous docking station/auido system I had to use a pair of earphones as the antenna for the fm radio, so I can really appreciate the antenna. I also like the lithium ion rechargable battery which is a nice touch. The remote is nice and compact and easy to use, which is able to be stored at the back of the system. My only dissappointment in the system over all is the fact that there are only 4 radio presets on the remote, no mute control on the system or remote and the fact that most of the remote controls are not available on the system - like the presets, etc. I also wish it came with a 3.5mm cord, I know my other Altec Lansing system for the Sandisk sansa came with one. Other than that this is system is awesome and good deal, I would be willing to pay up to $200 for it, if I had to. The sound is really nice on the system, very good bass if you like that, almost like theres a sub woofer connceted. I also wish the system had more buttons like the radio presets and play/pause.

Customer Review: IT ROCKS!!!!
Summary: 5 Stars

I have a 600 square foot apartment. This just what I needed. The sound quality is great.

Things you should to when you purchase this.
1. Follow the directions- let it charge for about 3 hours.
2. Got out to Target and purchase an "Energizer 2025 battery for the remote. You may think the remote does not work, when it may be that the battery be dead.
3. For the remote to work, am it at the "source" screen where it reads "IPOD".
4. The remote allows you to move forward and backward in you musical selection. I would suggest creating music playlists for your Ipod.
5. When you turn on the device, you have tap your Ipod. I believe it goes into pause mode when you turn off the the speakers.

This is a great player. If you need something for your bedroom, dorm room, small apartment, this is it!!

The only thing I did not like about the purchase, and this is not related to the speakers. The price had dropped even before I submitted my payment. I was told that the price would reflect the current price, and It did'nt at checkout. It's still cheaper if I bought it at Best Buy, but still Amazon should have honored the price reduction.

So, in summary, if you want a very nice, very slick audio system that produces nice sound, this is the one.

Customer Review: I love the iM600
Summary: 5 Stars

I had underestimated the convenience of a lithium-ion battery-powered set of speakers. It is so nice to be able to bring this to wherever I am, play music there for HOURS, then it recharges when I put it back in its "home". No fooling with cords or swapping batteries.

The sound quality on this is great. I'm estimating it's as good as you can get from a device of this size without spending a LOT more, or having a lot bigger speakers (which sort of defeats the purpose of portability).

The remote holder in the back is a good idea, although on my unit it takes too much force to slide it behind the holder tab. I don't know if this is a manufacturing defect, or a slightly-off design. Either way, it really doesn't bother me. It still fits inside when the iM600 is folded.

The fact that the antenna slides all the way inside the unit when not in use is a very nice feature. And the way the front and back fold up together is quite slick.

I was getting some vibration of the iPod against the front until I attached some little rubber "feet" on the iM600. That just goes to show you that it's got good bass.

So the slight imperfections give it 4.5 stars in my opinion. If mine got run over by a truck or something, I'd buy another iM600 in a heartbeat.

Customer Review: Great Sound, Portable, perfect for a layman
Summary: 4 Stars

Received my IM600 a couple of days back. I hope that qualifies me as a reviewer.

Here's what I like about it (in no particular order)

*** Great sound quality. Note: I'm no audio expert.
It plays loud even at 10. I think the sound lacks bass a bit. I plan to explore Sub woofer options.

*** Portability
This thing is light and folds up nicely. Has a rechargeable battery that charges the unit pretty quickly (under 3 hrs). This is going to serve me as my traveling sound system.

*** Charges & Syncs iPod through the dock.

*** It has a nice little remote control and it works.

*** I have successfully connected it to my notebook. Note: Aux cable is not included in the package.

*** Add to it FM, ESS, USB port.

Its too early to dislike anything. So far so good. Will update my review if I find something wrong.

Oh that reminds me. Altec has not tagged various dock adapters with appropriate iPod versions. You can find tips on how to replace adapters in the discussion forum below.

Another one. I wish I could access iPod menus using the remote. (too much for a < $100 system may be).

All in all I'm happy. Go get one for yourself.

BTW I have iPod mini.

Customer Review: A great value, at least a great value for an IPOD accessory
Summary: 4 Stars

Decided on Altec Lansing iM600 after much Internet research. Supposed to be near quality of Bose system for much less money. Seemed to be a great value (at least as far as IPOD accessories go). First one bought through Circuit City for $139.00 + tax. Good to almost great sound (similar to nice pair of powered computer speakers, but without subwoofer - costing maybe $69.95). Plenty of volume, no clicks, pops, other distortion when playing IPOD. Remote works nice once you get the hang of it and figure out what it will do. Radio excellent reception and sound. Pulled unit forward to look at the back and "fold-down" IPOD dock in front folded with the ipod attached, damaging the connector. Dock still worked, but had to pull IPOD forward to make connection or it would not play. Returned unit to Circuit City, bought same through Amazon for cheaper, and have been very careful since. BE CAREFUL TO NOT LET THE FOLD-DOWN IPOD DOCK FOLD UP ON YOU WITH THE IPOD ATTACHED - DAMAGE WILL OCCUR!!!!!! THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN MADE TO LOCK IN PLACE. WHY NO CLOCK/ALARM ON THIS UNIT - NEEDS TO BE A CLOCK RADIO!!!!!! Otherwise a great unit. I must say I am satified with my purchase as I know of no other IPOD dock I would be happier with (for the money) at this time.
