Customer Review: Happy I bought it!
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought this unit after some research on cnet and after looking through reviews on amazon and apple's website. I am really happy I bought the Altec Lansing inMotion iM600 (so far)! I have owned this unit for about a week now. It seems to have everything I wanted. Small size, but good sound, FM radio (because you never know, you might want to listen to the news/traffic before heading off to work), and portability (has a battery). I also needed a unit that worked with my older ipod... the 15GB one with the four buttons and scroll wheel.

Pros:
-as mentioned above: Small and thin, but not so thin that it tips over
-good sound
-portable (has a battery in case I want to take the unit to my deck)
-FM radio (with retractable antennae for those hard to get stations)

Cons:
-at really, really high levels there is slight static
-remote doesn't really work, unless you are STRAIGHT ON to the unit (annoying but not a big deal to me)
-only comes in black (my ipod is white)

Customer Review: Gets the job done
Summary: 5 Stars

This iPod speaker system is exactly what I wanted. It's compact, lightweight, and can go just about anywhere in the house you want. I didn't need sub-woofers, surround sound, or anything like that. I just wanted an easy way to play music while cleaning, reading, or cooking. This console is small enough to carry easily between kitchen, bedroom and living room. Also, I think the volume level goes high enough for it to add atmosphere to a small gathering. I don't have a huge home- most of the rooms are very small. So for me, this purchase really fit the bill. It is also very nice-looking and stream-lined; I like the blue lighting.

I also like that it comes with a remote and that you can play the radio on it. Additionally, if you have a video or photo iPod, you can connect the system to your TV, and it will show the video or the pictures that you have on your iPod on the TV screen, which is a nice feature.

Overall, I'm very happy with the product and will certainly use it on a regular basis!

Customer Review: Everything I expected
Summary: 4 Stars

I don't normally write reviews, so this is legitimate.

I've used this for several weeks, so far, it was everything I expected. I mostly use it plugged in our kitchen, but several times have used it's built in battery capability by using it in my garage.

Sound is good. Radio, is so-so, but that's not why I bought it. Compared to the Bose, one nice feature is being able to go up and down songs using buttons on the radio rather than using the remote.

Only features I wish it would have are leaving the IPOD screen lit up while in play - but no other sound dock does this either that I could find.

I wish the remote would allow moving up and down playlists like the Bose does - this is so minor.

I have no regrets with this purchase and now knowing all the product capabilities and deficiencies would happily buy it again.

Now about the lack of shuffling within playlists....who in apple should I talk with..

Customer Review: Great Sound and Features
Summary: 5 Stars

I was very pleasantly surprised at the sound of these speakers. They have great, clear sound and good bass response when the ESS is activated. I've only ever used it in normal house-sized rooms so I don't know how well it would fill in a large room or sound outside. I can say that setting it up in the dining room it sounded great in the adjacent living room. It folds up very compactly and the remote control is quite handy. It can control some of the iPod functions, such as changing songs. If you are looking for something to put on your desk or listen to in the bedroom, I don't think you can do any better, especially when you add in the portability and battery-powered operation. One note: if you have the latest fourth generation iPod Nano you need to make sure you have the newer im600 with the ESS technology. They previously made the im600 with SFX technology. The SFX will play the new Nano but it will not charge it. The newer ESS models are fully functional with the latest iPods. Trust me, I learned the hard way.

Customer Review: Good Value for Non-Audiophile
Summary: 4 Stars

For the size of the speakers and with a price below $100, this iM600 portable audio system provides a good value and a decent listening system. I have not used the portable part of this audio system, but it may come in handy if I decide to wash the car and I want to listen to my iPod Touch while outside. The FM radio work very well... it picks up many stations in the area with little to no static. The iM600 has a bass boost (labeled sfx), which I always leave on. You only get four pre-selected audio stations... and only on the remote. The iPod Touch fits great in this system. The amazing part about the iM600 is how loud it can get (I am actually scared to turn it up all the way). I typically keep it at about 14 to 22 out of 100, if I had to guess what the max range was. You will hear a slight hiss in the background when listening, especially at louder volumes. The hiss is not annoying and barely noticeable. Overall, I am pleased with my purchase and enjoy how little space this system takes up.
