Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Altec Lansing XM3120 Docking/Speaker System for Audiovox Express and Delphi Roady XT

Customer Review: I love it!
Summary: 5 Stars

I ordered two of these, one for home and another for the cabin.

I opened the box, plugged in the power supply and the XM antenna (didn't even unwind the cable), attached my XM Roady XT (without the adapter as others had recommended) and I'm listening to crystal clear XM radio.

I have the unit placed in the middle of my 20' x 20' bedroom. The radio display is showing three bars (the antenna is right next to the unit, 10 feet from the nearest window).

The quality and volume of the sound is very good. I also have the option to play through my home stereo's speakers by simply connecting to the unit's headphone jack.

Amazon was prompt shipping my order and I received it on the exact day that was scheduled. A one-year warranty is included.

In my opinion, at this great price, you can't go wrong purchasing this attractive, space-saving unit. I am extremely satisfied with this purchase.

Customer Review: Perfect for my needs
Summary: 5 Stars

About a year ago I won a Delphi SkyFi3 XM radio at an auction. When I got it home and checked it out I was not that impressed. It seemed very complex to set up in your car to work through the FM radio. The radio sat in my closet in the box for almost a year. Recently I bought a new vehicle which had XM radio. I loved it and being a baseball fan the ability to listen to live Play by Play was great. It got me thinking about the SkyFi3 that I had at home. I checked around the internet looking for something that would allow me to listen at home. After checking out all the reviews, etc. I decided on the Altec Lansing XM3120.
I was able to pick it up on ebay for $19.95 w/free shipping. It arrived two days later and using the Roady XT adapter I set it up. Well it worked perfectly and the reviews about the volume being too low didn't appear to hold water. I was able to use both the vloume control on the unit as well as the radio remote and it is plenty loud enough.

Customer Review: Great sound from such a small package
Summary: 5 Stars

I was pleasantly surprised by the quality sound from this unit, which I use with an Express EZ radio. The sound is clear and more than adequate volume-wise for my one-bedroom apartment. The antenna that comes with the unit is a bit smaller than the ones that typically come with XM's home docking units, but putting it on the shelf in my screened-in balcony area provides perfect reception and I can keep the lengthy antenna cable well out of harm's way.

I was particularly surprised to find that the unit works with the remote from my Samsung Nexus 25 that was using before--no need to go hunting for a new XM remote!

I would recommend this unit if you are living in a small place, are a student, or are simply looking for a space-saving idea in your office or study where needing to hear it throughout the house is not a consideration.

Customer Review: Listing to Baseball Games in the office.. it's Great..
Summary: 5 Stars

I used to listen to XM over the Internet in my office, but the MLB didn't broadcast for free the GAMES over the internet. Local AM broadcast it's impossible with all the computers in the building. I had the XM radio in my car; I bought the XM3120, and had to do a Cable adjustment to face the antenna to the south of the hemisphere, until I got a strong signal. I can listen to baseball games in the office, to talk shows, and music... I Don't need a big boombox (I am in the office, during working hours). For listening on the background of the Office it's great.. but don't expect a full volume boombox. For 20 bucks. Be realistic, It's small, compact and cheap, great adaptor, for moving the Radio from car to office. I would recommend for low volume, in or background music, but NOT for a party or listening quality...

Customer Review: neat package
Summary: 5 Stars

There is a lot of quality sound that comes from this little box. I use it in my woodshop and can hear crystal clear all over the basement. So far it's put up with the dust without a blink. One thing though, you will have to get close to or actually outside with the antenna. It doesn't pick up well inside a house. Once that's settled, it's a fine and convenient product that does what it is advertised to do. BTW, Amazon had it cheaper than anyone else at the time.

UpDATE: Oct 22,08. This item has been in the woodshop for over a year now. It has gotten plenty dusty. I just run a vacuum across it now and then and it hasn't missed a beat...pardon the pun. Still going strong. Also, the antenna I put outside is still where I put it and the weather has not affected it at all. Still sounds great with my Roady XT.
