I wanted to buy a very good cleaner for my DVD and CD players and wanted something good. I happened to come across Allsop Carbon-Edge Cleaner and figured it would do the job. It was something new on the market and I valued my players. So, I purchased the product and when it arrived, I placed it to good use. Moments later, my DVD and Multi-disc CD players are working like a charm. It seems as though they are new! Keep in mind I kept these two products in a storage shed for better part of two years! So you know moisture and change in climate can take it's toll on electronics. Well, thanks to Allsop Carbon-Edge they are operating perfectly. And the process to clean is only 3 or 4 minutes plus this disc will help you to adjust your surround sound speakers. A good buy - indeeed!!Customer Review: Does not cure all ills

The CD player in our 2001 Toyota Avalon would only randomly play PC-burned CDs. It would reject them outright or they would skip once started. The problem was not the computer's CD burner, as the CDs played on our 03 Avalon's player as well as on other machines. Manufactured CDs seemed to play fairly well. (We burn Audible books to CD for listening.) This product did not fix the problem; in fact, there is no difference in the player's behavior for having been "cleaned". The problem could well be a slight misalignment of the laser or something else, but be aware that this is not a cure for all ills. Two stars because it might work well for some, and is not necessarily mislabeled - but it did not work for me and I would not recommend it to a friend without a cautionary note.Customer Review: Works great on Macbook Pro

I had a problem with my Macbook pro, which didn't read DVDs, only audio CDs. I used this DVD cleaner and now it works fine! I played the intro track and about 2 minutes of the cleaning track, then the 3rd and part of the 4th track just in case. I skipped the rest of the cd.

I had problems again with my cd drive a few days later, and took apart my Macbook pro and cd drive to see what the problem was. It turns out a piece of plastic was stuck in the cd drive and that was the main cause of the drive's inability to read cds. Therefore, I can't say that this cleaning disc solved all my problems since a dirty lens wasn't the main cause, but it seems to work for dirty lenses in any case.

my MBP started having problems with playing some movie DVDs (Netflix). Based on some other reviews here, I got this cleaning disk. The first attempt was moderately successful - the disk spun in some noisily fashion and got spat out; no tracks played... Tried the second time and this time it worked perfectly - iTunes was opened and all the tracks available. I went through Intro and Cleaning track, skipped the tests - my drive works again.
Can recommend it as something to try before going to Apple Store, especially if one doesn't have a warranty anymore. Worst case scenario - one can use the disk for other CD and DVD players. No loss.

...But it fixed mine. My nearly 10-year old DVD player was at the point where it wouldn't read any DVDs -- only the message 'disc error' would appear in the display. Sure, as the helpful man at Best Buy advised me, buying a new player would have only cost me about 45 bucks, but I'm the sentimental type (and mine plays 'Region 2' so it would cost considerably more to replace). Anyway, I picked this cleaning kit up, and let it run for a few minutes (I didn't even listen to the audio intsructions) and presto - the player works again, at a fraction of the cost it would have been to replace it.
