I was needing a grip for my D200 and found the Nikon MD-D200 out of stock at the time. I decided I liked the idea of saving $100 by buying the knock off. When I received my order, I was unimpressed. The rubber on the grip was half peeled off and wouldn't stick back down. I hate dealing with sending things back so I just dealt with it. After a week of constant shooting and some carefully placed super glue it works well.
I have to mention that the item description is not quite clear or accurate to the product that I received. The description stated that it had a LED display on the back. It does not. What it does have is a switch that chooses between battery 1, battery 2, and off. I don't like this as it can be accidentally switched to off and the camera will not turn on when the camera switch is turned on.
Overall it works, but I will be replacing it with the MB-D200 soon.
On a trip to London, while riding at the top of the Eye, my camera shutter fires, stays open and throws an error message. I turn off, turn on, still won't close. I turn off power from the pack and still nothing. I frantically removed the grip and replaced with the same battery I had been using from the grip. Camera powers on and shutter closes. This caused me between 3-5 minutes of shooting time while on the Eye. Somewhere I probably won't go back to for a long time. Once back at the hotel, I tried to replicate the problem and did after firing a few frames (not rapid fire mind you) with the grip attached. I am very unhappy with my purchase.
