I bought this as portable storage for photos and couldn't be happier. Installed a 100GB sata drive I salvaged from an old laptop. That was a snap, took about 1 minute. Aluminum case is nice, very solid and runs cool. Comes with single usb cable with 2 connectors, 1 for data and 1 for power although it didn't seem to need both to run. Has e-sata port but doesn't come with cable. I planned to use usb so that didn't matter to me. I recommend this.Customer Review: Nice case, fatal flaw in the directions.

Very well built case, solid feel, fast access. Formatted 500GB in about 35 minutes.
DO NOT ATTEMPT TO OPEN THE CASE AS THE INSTRUCTIONS TELL YOU TO.
Remove the back panel with 2 screws, pull the board/mount out the FRONT of the unit. Illustrations in the manual indicate that the board comes out the rear, attached to the rear panel.
Other than that huge aside, it's a great unit.

This product works as advertised, is solidly built, and looks pretty cool for what it is. Took the Hitachi 250GB drive from my old MacBook Pro without a hitch. I haven't banged it around but it feels like it could take it. USB cable seats solidly. Setup is very easy. I don't care to ding a product for a feature it's 'missing' (e.g. a SATA connector cable) when the product was not represented as having the feature.Customer Review: eSATA undesirable!

Not a bad enclosure but I think current external eSATA are not worth having. First, expect a very modest increase in transfer rate if you have a newer computer comparing USB to eSATA (real world numbers). Second, eSATA is unpowered so you have to carry around and connect two cables (eSATA and USB) decreasing the portability and convenience of the drive. Same amount of money will buy a better USB only case. IMHOCustomer Review: Good quality, works great!

Bought this to do some file recovery off a laptop hard drive. It was straightforward to assemble and use and it worked flawlessly! The screws are quite small and the plastic end caps are a little fragile, but I would say it's definitely a great bang for the buck! I especially like the durable aluminum body as compared to other enclosures made out of plastic. I wouldn't hesitate to buy this one again!
