Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Acomdata Tango USB 2.0/eSATA 2.5-Inch SATA Hard Drive Enclosure TNGXXXUSE-BLU (Blue)Customer Review: Nice drive! Summary: 4 Stars
I'm very please with this drive. You do definitely get more if you pay more. The drive mounts securely to the circuit board so it's not flopping around inside the case. This is a big bonus! While this is a esata drive it does not come with an esata cable. Not that it matters too much anyway. If you use an esata cable you will have to use a usb port to power the drive anyway. Without the usb connection the drive will not power up. So, I'm happy with the USB connection and will deal with it.
Overall, I'm very pleased with this case and in the future will not try to save a buck or two with the cheaper cases. It's definitely worth it to spend the extra $10 for some quality.
Customer Review: A great cheap alternative... Summary: 5 Stars
A great cheap alternative to buying an external hard drive if you happen to have an extra internal one around. Easy to put together, simple to format in Windows. Didn't really use the instruction manual, so I'm not sure how helpful it is, but all you really need to do is attach your drive into the case with screws, hook it up to your computer, and then maybe format the drive into NTFS to clear what's already there. I used the built-in Windows formatting tool for this. I like my new drive a lot but wasn't really aware that the cable used up two USB ports. This wasn't really a problem, but if you have a limited number ports it could be. Overall I'm very pleased.
Customer Review: stopped working after two months, nobody home at support Summary: 1 Stars
Purchased this from Amazon.com in January, dead after less than two months of light use.
Seemed to work well at first, then I started to notice it was taking a long time after being plugged in (sometimes over 60 seconds) to be recognized by the computer. Then, it stopped working completely, not recognized at all and caused the hard drive to make clicking sounds. By the symptoms, at first I thought it was a bad drive, but I put the drive in the laptop directly and it worked fine, and I put another known-good drive in the Acomdata case and had the same problem.
Tried calling support; they don't answer. Not impressed.
Customer Review: As good as they get. Summary: 5 Stars
This enclosure is great for portability. The drive screws into place and is secure inside so that it does not rattle at all. It is not oversized at all and easily fits into your pocket. It uses an easy to come by mini-usb cable, and comes with one that has two usb connections. This allows you to use it on a computer that does not have usb2.0 and it will still get enough power to run.
The only thing i could think of that would make this better is a compartment for the wire, as you can put this in your pocket, but you also have to carry around the usb cable for it if you wanted to actually use it.
Customer Review: Nice Case. Summary: 4 Stars
This is a nice hard drive case. It has a very nice feel and works without reliably.
My only issues:
1) The instruction manual did not show the installation correctly. It shows removing screws and then this cover plate. In reality the plate on the other end slides out for installing the hard drive.
2) The hard drive is not well supported after installation. If you shake the case gently you can here the hard drive rattle around slightly. I don't think it hurts anything but it would be better if the hard drive was firmly held in place when installed.
