Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Acomdata Tango USB 2.0/eSATA 2.5-Inch SATA Hard Drive Enclosure TNGXXXUSE-BLU (Blue)

Customer Review: Quick and Easy
Summary: 5 Stars

This case is great! Amazon delivered it in there usual record time, and it was easy to use.

This is my first hard drive case so I was not sure what to go with. I went with this one because it was kind of middle of the range. I'm using it for an old ps3's hard drive.

It's really easy to use, and nice and stable. You just take off two screws on the one side, pull out the tray that holds the drive. Then you plug the drive in, put it back with the screws in, And there you have it.

Then you just plug the USB in, Or the eSata (If you have that).

At first my computer didn't recognize it, but it was because it's a ps3 hard drive and that's in another format. So I just have to reformat it quick.

But any normal driver, or new driver should work strait away.

Customer Review: Exactly what you need

This enclosure is a very good deal for the price. Originally ordered it over four months ago to extract data off of a dead laptop, but have continued using it as an external hard drive. The esata port is a big jump in data transfer rate over USB 2.0, noticing that whatever transfer rate I had with USB 2.0 double at least using the esata port. Assembly just requires mounting the hard drive to the internal circuit board with some small provided screws. I heavily recommend this aluminum enclosure over the plastic enclosures usually seen on pre-assembled external hard drives (metal case transfers some heat and does not depend solely on case vent holes). However, be warned. As the case is aluminum, it does heat up as the hard drive is used.

Customer Review: Simple Product, Works Very Well, Glitch With Instructions
Summary: 5 Stars

I purchased two of these and wouldn't hesitate to buy another. It took only a couple minutes to install the drives (in both). After a few minutes to get windows to "take ownership" of the drives I was up and running. (was using USB connection, haven't tried e-sata) The case seem to be solid and of good construction, everything nicely machines and put together.

As other posts have noted, the instructions are reversed in terms of how they tell you to pull out the drive... but honestly, once you remove the two screws from the end cap it really is self evident how to remove the little circuit board to which your hard drive will be attached.

Overall a nice product.

Hope this helps

Customer Review: Super fast setup - no drivers needed.
Summary: 4 Stars

Just got this enclosure for a HD from an otherwise dead laptop. Unscrewed two screws, pulled the board out, plugged the laptop HD in, reinsert, rescrew, plug in to USB, and started right up. Nice bright blue LED.

I love that it's self-powered and anodized. Hopefully it doesn't scratch easily.

One flaw... I can hear the HD flop a little bit as I handle the enclosure, as if it has just a tiny bit too much room to move around (unavoidable, really - to accomodate different drives and still allow heat dissipation, don't see how they'd avoid this). I'll likely insert a tiny bit of rubber or foam to prevent the little movement, but doesn't seem like it would affect usage.

Customer Review: Excellent enclosure for a drive swap, and more
Summary: 5 Stars

I can't add much to what's been said here. I bought this to enclose a new drive for cloning a 120 GB drive to a new 320 GB drive. There are other enclosures that make such things easier with no screws and all, but I wanted to use my enclosure on a permanent basis afterwards, so I relied on the reviews here for build quality etc. I wasn't sorry - it was perfect. The fit and finish is great, and it worked flawlessly for the cloning. Despite the end pieces being plastic, they fit well and the aluminum protects them from any accidental abuse. The heat dissipation is excellent - case was warm, and drive was no warmer when I removed it.

I would buy more products from this manufacturer.
