Customer Review: Great Value
Summary: 4 Stars

I had researched many answering machines and found this to be the best quality at a very reasonable price.
It was easy to set up and use. I found no distortion voice quality, true, not as clear as a tape machine, but voices were recognizable. Some reviewers may have voice quality issues with their particular machine; may be an individual chip, but think more to the users expectations and individual tastes and senses. Also, some reviewers had problems with operation, READ THE INSTRUCTIONS!

As my cable company wants $4.95 for the inconvenience of voice mail this will pay for itself in a few months. If I had a complaint, and a minor one at that is you need to carry a card with you for remote commands

Customer Review: Inexpensive and works great
Summary: 5 Stars

Very easy to set up, It took me less than 5 minutes, the menus were very easy to navigate through. Many reviews have complained about the sound quality. I found the sound quality of incoming messages to be better than my previous unit (an old Bell South digital unit). I have no problem understanding incoming messages and they sound very clear. The outgoing message sounds ok but not great, somewhat "tinny". The remote access feature works well. I don't have caller ID so am not using those features. Some reviews said that when setting the time and date year only went up to 2009, not true with this one. If you are looking for a basic machine, this one does a nice job at a great price.

Customer Review: all I needed
Summary: 4 Stars

My old PhoneMate died after more than 13 years. I didn't want a whole new phone system, and I'm not about to pay the phone company for voice mail. Just wanted a plain old, stand-alone answering machine that would let me screen my calls. So far this is serving my purpose. I've been told my outgoing message is a little loud (didn't sound that way to me when I checked playback after recording it), and incoming voices can sound a bit garbled. It was a little tedious running through a whole menu of options to set the individual features and functions - so I keep the instruction book nearby, just in case. Other than those few points I'm satisfied, and the price was right.

Customer Review: Answering Maching
Summary: 5 Stars

Got tired of Voice Mail with the phone company so decided to go back to the "old fashioned" answering machine, I'm so glad I did. I think this is a great product. Not only does it have the little man inside who states "This number does not accept calls from blocked numbers" but the same little man will tell you what number is calling you (if you have Caller ID) or if it is an unknown caller so no more rushing to the phone at inconvient times to see if it's a call you are not interested in. Was really handy prior to the last election with over 15 calls daily from candidates. Easy to set up, easy to use, have no problem understanding messages or the little man. Good buy.

Customer Review: No Frills answering machine that does the job
Summary: 4 Stars

There is nothing fancy about this answering machine. You can't record a personalized message for example. It is is straight up answering machine that is dead simple to use. Plug it in, set the time and date, number of rings before answering, language (Eng or Spanish) and you are done. It just works. If you are looking for robust features, this is not the product. But, if you just want a inexpensive, straightforward device, you can't beat the price. One thing that bugged me is the phone cord is hard wired. Meaning you can't put a short cord on or replace it (not that I would think it would go bad). For me, I wanted to put a shorter cord on and couldn't.
