Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of APC Back-UPS ES 8 Outlet 650VA 120V

Customer Review: No surge protection
Summary: 1 Stars

I bought this to protect my new PC that I bought just last week. We had an electrical storm today. My motherboard is now toast. I only saw one other person in the Amazon reviews talk about this experience (probably b/c electrical spikes of this magnitude don't happen every day).

If you buy this unit, be sure to buy a good surge protector. It may do the battery backup part OK, but don't make the same mistake as me and rely on it for surge protection.

Customer Review: Not as advertised - read below
Summary: 2 Stars

The title and description are misleading. This features only FOUR OUTLETS that offer the UPS. The other four outlets feature SURGE PROTECTION ONLY. I would not have purchased this item if I had known that information ahead of time.

That said, the unit itself offers 15 minutes of battery life in the event of a brownout/power outage and it has worked for me when I did have such an outage. I still wouldn't have bought it for only four outlets...

Customer Review: Unfulfilled Promise
Summary: 1 Stars

I have been waiting for over two weeks to resolve the problem with my APC BE650R's inablility to connect the modem to the phone line. I was told that I would be receiving a replacement withing 5 days, and that I would have an RMA number assigned to return the defective unit. I have yet to receive either. I am stuck with a unit that will not allow a connection to dialup. This is my third and probably final APC product purchase.

Customer Review: It works like it should
Summary: 5 Stars

I got one of these for each workstation at the office. I ran a test on the station. I plugged in a 19" CRT monitor, desktop, and laser printer into the battery backup outlets. First there was not an overload on the UPS, so that was good. I unplugged the fully charged battery from the wall and got about 15 minutes of run time. This is more than ample time for the user to save work, so I think this UPS perfectly did its job.

Customer Review: Works
Summary: 5 Stars

I have a PC, a 17" and a 19" monitor and a Logitech wireless mouse and keyboard plugged into this unit. It tells me that I have 16 minutes of battery backup, which is fine for saving a document and shutting down the system. It also tells when it kicked in last and why. ("Line noise" is the only reason so far, after a month.) It was easy to set up.
