I purchased this UPS for my computer system. The devise works great and does in fact shut everything down when I turn off the computer. The only downside is that it does not have enough plugs that are controlled by the master switch so I still have a few devices that I have to shut down manually. The other option would be to connect another plug extender to one of the controlled plugs but than it will be clumsy as I will have plaugs going every which way. The first unit was completely dead on arrival. APC Chat treated me as an idiot and required two chats to get a replacement. They did not provide a return shipping label until I told them they were not going to get it until I got return shipping. The replacement unit had short battery leads and it was very difficult to connect the battery. Needed to leave the battery in place and connect with needle nose pliers. I have six other APC units but this is the last time I will buy one.Customer Review: Very Able UPS

This APC unit has transformed a hideous jumble of power cables into an orderly and space saving collection. It delivers clean, uninterrupted power to my computer and all five of my peripheral devices at a rock steady 120 volts. The software management program works flawlessly. Like a regular hard drive back-up program, anti-virus and security protection, a good UPS device is indispensable for protecting your expensive high tech investment. The first unit was defective and was replaced. The second unit will not work with a Dell XPS 9000 computer. Rather than keeping the computer on, it shuts it off on a power failure. This is caused by either the long switching time or the imperfect sine wave; It's not important which.
I will say that customer service was exceptionally helpful; both in replacing the old unit and in recommending a unit that produces a better sine wave.

I am so happy that I decided on this product for my home office after researching fairly extensively. My son said this is a great company and we've had their other products that always worked well. I was tempted to skimp on the $29 model made by another company. Glad I didn't! This is a great system. Very sturdy, nice looking, and has smart functions via CD. Plus, damage coverage is impressive. Easy to set up. I'll refer this to all my friends.
