Customer Review: Make sure you know how many devices need UPS
Summary: 4 Stars

This is a great UPS for the money. The warranty the ease of use and most of all its compatibility with Mac OS X made this seem at first like a no-brainer purchase.
I find it priceless that in the even of a power failure the UPS will communicate with my desktop to shut down in several minutes properly. Also battery support for my cable modem means, in the event of a blackout, I can still make phone calls. I didn't however realize that only half of the outlets on the unit provide battery support for the attached device. If I knew that I would've purchased the similar one of these from the same brand but with two more outlets.

Customer Review: Problems after 2 months
Summary: 2 Stars

Usually APC has been reliable - I own various surge protectors and a RS1500 for MacPro/Cinema Display and all working perfectly. This is the latest APC product I've purchased and after 2 months it started beeping randomly, indicating that the mac Mini and display were running on battery, when it was well connected to power outlet. Faulty wiring? bad sample? maybe. In any case, I have to send this directly to APC since Amazon will not take exchange for a product that's malfunctioned after only 2 months from purchase. Oh well. If only Nordstrom or Bed Bath & Beyond sold APC, I'd exchange it at either places with no questions asked.

Customer Review: Great UPS
Summary: 5 Stars

This UPS is awesome. Very easy to setup. Works Great with iMac 27 in i7 quad core. The software CD that comes with the UPS isn't needed since the OS handles UPS management seamlessly in Energy Saver. Just hook up the UPS to the iMac via the USB cable and put in your settings and you are up and running. I found 8 plugs to be plenty. Just keep in mind that only 4 are backed up by battery the other four are surge protected but not on battery backup. This really makes sense when you think about how fast the battery would drain if you had 8 devices plugged into it on battery power. I have no issues with this one at all. Great product!

Customer Review: Overall I'm Pleased
Summary: 4 Stars

Arrived sooner than expected. Packing was good. There is a manual. One thing that really bugged me. There are 8 outlets. Seven were difficult in that I had to force the plug into the outlet. The 8th outlet would not take the "ground" prong. I tried and tried to force it but it would not go. I thought of returning it, but I hate to pack things, RMA it, etc. So then I was going to call the 800 # to see if they had a workaround. Before I did this, I tried to insert several different prongs and finally one worked! By inserting/removing it several times, I loosened it up so now they are tight but they do work.

Customer Review: Intel based Mac's beware!!!
Summary: 3 Stars

I bought this item because I thought I read that it would be compatible with my Intel based Mac.

Once I completed the install and then the software package, it then told me that the software part is NOT compatible. I contacted the company. Customer service was prompt and friendly but did advise that they do not have an update for Intel based or OS 10.5 software.

However, the unit itself will still function just fine. It simply will not automatically prompt my computer to shut down in the even of a power outage.

So all in all, for the money, I would still buy the unit.
