This low end unit exceeded my expectations as to its features, especially the number of outlets available and the wide spacing between them to allow room for power supply bricks. APC has several outlets but these are prone to a multi-outlet overload. My unit smoked without the 40 A fuse blowing and was traced to a faulty transistor that overheated and melted the plastic casing adjacent its heat sink. My lesson: use the highest VA unit at least 2X your maximum expected current requirement.Customer Review: works like all my others

I purchased this UPS for a child going to college. Rather than just a power strip, I want something that should condition the electricity coming from the grid more to protect the devices attached to the UPS.
I have many of these at work. This UPS works as designed. No complaints.

The UPS arrived dead. I called tech support and was very quickly diagnosing the failure. For whatever reason, the UPS was not being powered by the wall outlet. This is a great little battery backup for a home PC or small television (LCD, DLP, or Plasma for best performance). The surge protection is great, the battery life does quite well depending upon load, and the plugs are spaced out to give you room for those crazy DC adapters.
