Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of APC 11-Outlet 3020J Surge ProtectorCustomer Review: Coaxial protection problem Summary: 4 Stars
I just purchased the product via Amazon and connected all my AV equipment to it today. I have an Ethernet cable hooked up to send streaming Netflix to a Roku and then send it out to my Pioneer 5010fd TV. I viewed a movie on Netflix and the quality was excellent. However, there was a problem with the coaxial protection ( also noted here in the April 29 review by Thomas Shimer). Some of the channels on my TV now appear pixellated and break up from time to time. In fact, some channels do not appear at all.
So for now I am giving the product a 4 stars- deducting one star for this glitch.
I contacted APC today via email today and I will amend this review after I hear back from them.
UPDATE- June 24,2009
I am returning the product to Amazon today. I contacted APC by email and by phone and they offered no solution other than to return the product to Amazon.
So if I could, I would lower my rating to 3 stars - deducting another star for poor customer service.
Customer Review: Great for Entertainment Center Summary: 5 Stars
I mounted this unit to the back of my TV stand, with screws. It has a pretty low profile, and works great.
I have the following plugged in:
Belkin Powerdock (for iPods)
Bose SoundDock
Nintendo Wii
Samsung 32" LCD HDTV
Scientific Atlanta 8300HDC (AC/Coax)
Sony BDP-S370 (AC/Ethernet)
Ethernet protection does not seem to create any noticeable issues with my Sony BDP-S370, streaming wise. I've also not have any issues with my Scientific Atlanta 8300HDC, from Time Warner, while using Coax protection.
In general usability, the unit is designed well. The cord can swivel on the side, as needed, and the power switch is easy to find, when not looking directly at the unit. I would recommend this Surge Protector to anyone, for their home entertainment center needs. I can't attest to the protection, but APC has one of the best protection ratings, in the business, and backs it up.
Customer Review: Reliable, useful, and heavy-duty Summary: 5 Stars
This is a very good surge protector. It has 5 plugs that are closely spaced together and 6 plugs that are spaced far enough apart to plug in transformers and larger devices. And for outlets that you don't use, you can protect them from getting dust inside by sliding a protective cover over the open outlet. It will also protect anything using coaxial cables or regular telephone wires. For the price, this can't be beat. The build quality is good and the design is sleek. This surge protector would be ideal for home entertainment centers (television, DVD player, video game consoles) or for connecting a lot of computer devices (CPU, printer, modem, answering machine, speakers, etc.). I've seen surge protectors with fewer outlets be sold at prices twice as much as this one, which should make purchasing this outlet a no-brainer. It is a must-buy for protecting your electronic devices at a good price.
Customer Review: An awesome surge protector. Comparable one at BB would run you $100 Summary: 5 Stars
I had bought a surge protector from BB for more and its nowhere near what this surge protector is. This thing has 6 outlets for transformer BLOCKS. All your power cables will fit into this thing with no problem and just like the BB surge protector this thing has a $300,000 warranty. I'm taking back the surge protector I bought from BB today. Buy this you won't regret it. Awesome awesome value.
Lastly, if your contemplating buying the tripp lite:

DON'T. The APC has better Joule protection (3400J for APC versus 3240J for TL). Also it has 11 outlets versus 8 on the TL; of those 11 six are for transformers while only 3 are for the TrippLite. Lastly, as of the time of this review the APC costs LESS!
Customer Review: Excellant Product Summary: 5 Stars
This is the second APC 11 Surge Protector I have purchase. I loved this unit. It is well thought out and laid out. It has a nice, sturdy feel to it. I have a 40" Samsung HD LCD, a TiVo, a Dish DVR, a Phillips DVDr, a Wii, a iPod mini station, a DTV box, a subwoofer, an air purifier, a fan, and a VCR all hooked up to it. I also have my coax cable and my broadband cable hooked up to it. I haven't gotten any kind of interference and all the plugs fit neatly on the APC 11. I'm in the process of getting a few more electronic "toys" and needed another APC 11 for the additional plugs I will have. I made the choice on purchasing the APC 11 from research and reviews that I got off the web, and so far that info has been proven correct on the APC 11.
I would definitely recommend the APC 11 Surge Protector to anyone needing a quality surge protector.
