I definitely recommend purchasing this APC P11VT3 surge protector! After ordering and planning out a new home theater and computing set-up, I figured it would be best to protect my systems. I looked into many different surge protectors and the protection they offer and this one came out on top. After receiving it and getting my system set up, I can say it works great. The only worry I had from reviews was the coaxial filter, but upon using it myself, I found no issues that have been mentioned by other reviewers such as any kind of signal or picture degradation.
The outlets are arranged perfectly to suit any size plug you may have (and lots of them!), and have sliding covers for the outlets you don't need, so you can keep the dust and dirt out. Each outlet holds plugs in tight, so you can be sure nothing will accidentally come loose. The power cord swivels 180 degrees at the unit, which allows the cord to run in either direction. The plug at the end of the power cord connects securely into the wall outlet and the cord comes out sideways against the wall at about a 225 degree angle (down and to the left). Near the power switch, there are three easy to see lights, and easy to read descriptions next to them to assess the units state of function.
Also, in the box you get three cables for this unit, a Coaxial cable, Phone Cable, and Ethernet Cable so when you plug in your main lines to the surge protector, you don't have to go buy or look for a second cable to go from the unit to the product you're protecting.
Registration of this product can easily be done online, and is definitely recommended if you want the lifetime product warranty that includes connected equipment protection. I am confident that when I move back to Florida, the lightning capital, this product will do it's job, and if for any reason it were to fail, APC would step up and deliver on their warranty. I've had the 3400J since mid-February. Until last week, I only had it hooked up to a bedroom 24" Sony and a DVD player, but I transferred it to my living room where I have a home theater system. (So I'm ordering a new one for the bedroom setup.)
(I had a leftover APC UPS that I had been using for the home theater, but the battery finally died after four years of over-use! Instead of replacing the battery, I'm just getting another 3400J.)
Must aggree with other reviewers: Excellent layout for multiple devices.
I am using the coax protector and find it in no way affects my picture quality. I've tried it with straight digital feed, standard cable, and the HDMI cable box. Crystal clear. (I tried all the input methods because of reading two other reviews that complained about "pixelization." I found no problems--and I don't understand how a degraded signal would cause pixelization. Snow maybe, but pixelization? That is usually a compression issue, not a connection problem.)
Could this protect us against a massive surge? I sure hope we never need to find out. When lightning comes here in Central Florida, we unplug the home theater and computer. But we have had some brownouts and surges that trigger our computer's UPS alarm, and these fluctuations seem to be handled well by the 3400J.
I'm giving 5 stars because of ease of use, four months of trouble-free ownership, and the APC brand (which I've relied on for server and PC protection since the early 90's). I did have a customer service need for a UPS once, about two years ago, and found APC to be helpful and pretty easy to get through to.

I've been building and using PCs since before Tom Waitt's Gateway (2000) ads were pictures of a Holstein cow standing in an Iowa farm field. A poor house wiring problem and local power blips, along with needing to use the machines every time we got summer thunderstorms made me study and install line protection from day one. I've used all kinds, from the $5.00 strip kinds to UPC powered systems. It's been my experience that the APC units have served me best - both by the way they have worked and by their design. Like everyone, I need more and more room for plugs and I've had systems where I was using two or three units at a time. This APC unit has all eleven outlets full now, only because after plugging in ten of my cords, I realized I could finally get a small LED puck light plugged in and velcroed to the underside of my desk so that I had light when I wanted to re-cable something or clean the cases. These are heavy weight, well built units. The keyhole slots on the back have allowed me to mount them on the back of the desks, off the floor (and the dust bunnies). They also enticed me to re-route my cat and coax lines through them by providing small cables in the box, along with velcro wire wraps. I also chose to use this model for my A/V system, and gradually filled most of the outlets. These are among the best units I've tried and the ones I keep buying. They include some nice extras in the box and have a pretty good warranty record. I just wish they had some kind of sweet cable management system to wrangle the 15 or so wires that are attached!Customer Review: Lucky enough to not have tested it's effectiveness, but...

...No one is hoping to have to if you're buying this. What I can say is that it has 6 transformer (aka. "AC Adapter") plugs which have saved me a lot of blocked plugs. The unit itself is pretty attractive I guess. It's not very flashy but it's appropriately rugged and utilitarian looking, like some sort of security component.
The coaxial input and output connectors look like they're gold plated and look like they have low manufacturing tolerances for anyone concerned about picture quality or internet speed.
The plug that goes into the wall to power the surge protector is oriented so that it protrudes sidewards as opposed to outwards (i.e. the cable tends to stick along the wall) and it only protrudes about a centimeter or so from the wall so you can put stuff against it without having it interfere or without crimping the cable which is nice.
Every power outlet on the device is grounded. There are also inputs and outputs for phone lines and Ethernet cables so it's pretty obvious this device is prepared to protect all your devices from any outside surge, whether it be electricity, cable or land line.
All in all I would recommend this. I can't attest to it's protection from surge, but the box says it covers $100,000 worth of equipment that is hooked up, limited lifetime so I'm pretty confident. At the end of the day you're probably also looking to clean up multiple power strips you have in your setup and I can say it helped me with that! Get it while it's on sale :]

So far so good! I only received it today so I can't attest to long-term qualities or performance during a power surge or lightning strike, but so far this thing has managed to greatly exceed my expectations.
This unit has all the things I've ever wished that surge protectors offered. The arrangement of the plugs with the many transformer spaces is awesome. As anyone with a large computer setup knows, transformers are way too common and they can take over up to 3 plugs. Not an issue with this product.
Also seems very solid, which is great. Quality seems superb from what I can tell.
Oddly, one of the things that really made me smile is that they include a telephone, ethernet, and coax cable all held together with a couple velcro cable ties. Yes, velcro cable ties!! I have plenty and don't have a need for more, but I thought it was awesome that they'd throw in a couple of those as I have sworn by them since I discovered their existence years ago.
Overall a very satisfying purchase for how simple of an item it is. Highly recommended based on my experience so far.
