This is an excellent unit. I have 3 of them. They are attractive, durable, powerful and quiet. For me, one unit is strong enough to cool the kitchen, dining room and half of the living room. I believe that Sharp makes the best window air conditioner available. The only thing that I do not like about it are the plastic extenders to fill-in the window opening. Therefore, I do not use them. Instead, I simply close the opening with white cardboard.Customer Review: Good but NOT quiet

This is an average AC that cools well but it is far from quiet and even further from "library quiet." I have two of these and regret putting one in my son's room because of the loud compressor. In no way, shape or form should this air conditioner be called quiet. I do have two higher BTU Sharp ACs and they can certainly be called quiet.Customer Review: Average Cooling Performance but LOUD

Sharp makes great air conditioners, and this unit is no exception. I use this unit in my bedroom and it is capable of maintaining a steady 75F degree room temp even when it is 95F degrees outside. The compressor is quite loud however and this should be considered before you buy it.Customer Review: library quiet my ass

The compressor of this air conditoner is even noisier than my cheap LG air conditioner. It is out of question to put this AC in a library and to expect silence .... Apart from that it is an average 6000 BTU air conditioner.Customer Review: Great Air Conditioner
