I'd give it 5 stars if it was cheaper - hard to believe I paid $40+ much for a piece of platic but 3M found a niche with a captive audience. I travel 100k plus on planes and this has allowed me to be much less wary of someone seeing confidential information on my screen. I asked my wife sitting next to me on the plane one time of she could see my screen with this filter on and she said no, only if she leaned over into my part of the seat. I do dim the brightness a bit as well and use the side with max protection. So I'm confident that I'd notice someone leaning over for any extended period of time and now work comfortably absorbed in my work rather than having to be aware whether someone is watching. This Filter works great. The viewing angle is so slim that you won't be able to see what's on the laptop until unless you are directly in front of it. Everyone keeps asking me about this. Hey, it even reduced the glare and stress on my eyes.
Cons: A little bit pricey.

This privacy filter is doing its job, but there are some pros and cons.
Biggest cons:
- Glossy - depending on surrounding light it might be not possible to work with filter on
- Darkening display - transparency could be better, your screen is much darker with the filter
I got it for fair price I think, so it was a good value. Viewing angle is 90 degree, so passing by persons can look in your screen anyway. It works very well if person is sitting next to you - screen is black.

I travel constantly and need to work on confidential documents on the plane. I first started using this product when I was working for a leading global management consulting firm - these laptop screens were basically required for all consultants and had been well vetted against alternatives. Since changing jobs I bought my own filter and recommend it to my colleagues as well.
This product quite effectively makes your laptop screen unreadable to anybody not sitting directly in front of the computer, well enough that my immediate neighbors on the plane can't read what I'm working on. It does slightly darken the screen, but not enough to be a problem.
You stick little plastic tabs to the frame of your laptop screen, and the privacy filter slips into the tabs. The screen is very easy to slip in and out, and the tabs themselves can be quite easily removed (but not re-used once removed).
Highly recommended.

This filter has been invaluable! With little to no diruption to my normal vision I don't have to worry about any seeing anything with sensitive content. The bad part though, is that when trying to work collaboratively with someone it doesn't always work out well.
