Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of 3M Ergonomic Mouse, Optical, USB/PS2 Compatible, Small Size, Black (EM500GPS)Customer Review: Works great, not what I expected Summary: 4 Stars
I like the mouse, however I wanted a pistol grip mouse with a thumb trackball and left and right buttons under the first and second fingers. Having to slide the entire mouse around defeats the purpose of neutral positioning of the hand. My hand problems are connected to my elbow in a major way, and having to use my elbow/arm creates tension in the forearm. My concern was that it wasn't clear to me when I bought it that the thumb was the left and right click and not a trackball. There wasn't much of a description involved. The mouse is easy to use, just not what I wanted.
Customer Review: Awkward, only in a different way Summary: 2 Stars
I found the position they thought was neutral for the hand to be quite awkward. A stick that just stands straight up in the air would have been more comfortable, but this stands forward and to the left. Also it's very difficult to use the mouse without hitting the finger button, which on a Mac does something totally random. That button should be much smaller so you don't accidentally hit it every time you grab hold of the mouse. Furthermore, since you rest the weight of your hand and arm on it, it would have been better if the bottom platform were padded like a mousepad.
Customer Review: Relieves stress on hand Summary: 4 Stars
This product works really well. It takes about a week and a half to get use to it but it greatly reduced the pressure on my hand when I'm working at the computer. I actually bought one for my mother who had carpel tunnel surgery and it also relieved any pain she was having using a traditional mouse. The only problem I had was that it broke when it banged up against a wall when I was moving my computer. Normal use you should not have any problems. Care should be taken not to bang or drop it because it can break easily. It lives up to it's claim.
Customer Review: Can't live without this mouse for 7 years now.... Summary: 5 Stars
I had a 'career-ending' injury 8 years ago. I had severe bilateral tendonitis from fingertip to shoulder; at one point it felt like I had sparks shooting from my fingers to my shoulders. I started using this mouse 2 years later while in school (to 'retrain for a new career') and I simply cannot live without it. This is the ONLY mouse I can use. Today I have minimal elbow discomfort and work full time, all of which is spent on my computer. I cannot tell you how important this product is for people with RSI. Most of my coworkers now use it as well.....
Customer Review: Great! Awesome! Summary: 5 Stars
I usually never write reviews. But if anyone else is suffering from CTS, this is a great option for a mouse. I have been using it for a day and my wrist is already feeling better. Once you use this mouse stick, you will wonder why we have been using that other type of mouse for so long. It naturally fits into your hand and the buttons are very easy to grasp and use. AND there is no software to install. I was using it within 10 seconds of plugging it into the USB port. Three cheers for 3M (and no, I am not affiliated with the company).
