Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of 3Dconnexion SpaceNavigator PE (Personal Edition) 3D Navigation Device USB ( 3DX-700029 )Customer Review: SpaceNavigator PE Summary: 5 Stars
Easy installation. Operation is smooth. It feels like natural extension of one's body. I used it with Solid Works, eDrawings and Google Earth. Learning curve is very fast.
It has 2 buttons. They feel little small for person with larger hands.
Buttons can be programmed. It takes some tries to get used to it.
For instance, I tried to program right button for pan only. Display pans right/left by sliding controler accordingly. When you slide up/down it does not work. To pan up/down, controler must be pulled up or pushed down.
Overall it is a very neat device that is comfortable to use and it saves the mouse hand from fatique.
It would be nice to have something like that for general Windows applications, notably for pan and zoom.
Customer Review: Can not be better! Summary: 5 Stars
I absolutely love this thing. I bought it here at Tiger on a whim after seeing it on the right side when I was looking for something else. I saw the reviews and the good price, and bought it. It was probably the best purchase I've made in the last 6 months. It has increased productivity so much. took about a day to get used to. It was so easy to integrate it into my everyday work flow. I can really see now why people say they now can't go without it. It works with a whole range of programs, and as a student, that really helps. I'm thinking of upgrading to the SpacePilot because of the extra programmable buttons. I feel I could be even faster if I don't need to move my hand from 3d mouse to keyboard every now and then.
Customer Review: Great device for the price Summary: 4 Stars
I am currently using the SpaceNavigator PE for Maya 2008. It allows for quick and efficient maneuvering which speeds up my workflow while making GoogleEarth even more fun at the same time.
It's not a necessary product at this level. Once the "Wow" factor is gone, I do find myself still using mouse/keyboard navigation out of habit.
Once projects get to a certain point in construction and depth, the tool becomes invaluable for navigating your space in a fluid, organic manner and for accurately determining camera positions with a natural feel.
As an entry level 3d-navigation device it can't be beat. Set up is easy and calibration is even easier.
Highly recommended.
Customer Review: A "Must Have" Addition to Your Sketchup Workstation Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this gizmo specifically for use with Sketchup. I am happy to report that the SpaceNavigator's "six degrees of freedom" functionality truly augments and extends SU's navigation commands. My favorite feature is *roll*, which enables you to make your SU model pirouette like a ballerina. Try doing that with SU's *orbit* command! However, be forewarned: if you use SU 6 you'll have to download the latest driver. Also, SU elements such as trees that have a high polygon count do tend to create significant lag in the SpaceNav's screen rendering. But, hey - when I turn my trees off, SpaceNav simply flies! Last, but not least, this input device is well crafted, handles well, and will look great on your desk. :)

Autodesk Inventor 2009 Essentials PlusThe Essential Blender: Guide to 3D Creation with the Open Source Suite BlenderThe functionality of the device is excellent - especially for users of 3D modeling routines like Blender, Adobe Inventor and Rhino3D. You have to try this item to see how great it is for Google Earth.
Company sent a replacement device after the first one failed. Must say that I am very impressed with this company's commitment to customer satisfaction. Recommend products from 3DConnection!
